High Range Development Society (HDS) celebrated International Women’s Day with great enthusiasm on 7th Saturday 2026 at Upputhodu. The celebration and felicitation of award winners were organized jointly by High Range Development Society and Upputhodu Girijyothi Credit Union.

The function began with a prayer, followed by the welcome address delivered by HDS Executive Director, Rev. Fr. Joseph Kochukunnel. The program was presided over by Sreemathi Kunjamma Thomas, Diocesan President of the Credit Union. Mrs. Jyothimol T., District Planning Officer, Idukki, officially inaugurated the event. Mrs. Shiny Saji, District Panchayat Member, delivered the keynote address highlighting the importance of women’s social and economic empowerment.

Two award recipients—Sr. Prasanthy, winner of the Best Teacher Award, and Mrs. Salomy, winner of the Best Social Worker Award—who have demonstrated excellence in their respective fields were honoured during the event. Rev. Fr. Thomas Nechukatt, Vicar of St. Joseph Church, Upputhode; Mr. Sunny Pulkunnel, Panchayat Vice President; and Rev. Sr. Prashanthi C.M.C., Headmistress of Vimala High School, extended their greetings and offered their felicitations.

The program also featured a variety of cultural performances, including music and dance, presented by the members. Mrs. Salomi Tomy, Secretary of the Upputhode Unit of the Credit Union, delivered the vote of thanks.
