The Tribal Development Fund (TDF) Project, initiated in 2015 in partnership with NABARD, aimed to empower the tribal community in Marayoor's Koodakkadukudi settlements. Focusing on a diversified approach encompassing agriculture (pepper, coffee, vegetables, millets), livestock (cows, goats, poultry), and lemongrass extraction, the project has positively impacted 416 families. Over 300 acres of land are now cultivated, generating regular income through the sale of products via the Girijyothi Farmer Producer Company Ltd., a tribal FPO supported by NABARD. The project strongly emphasizes soil and water conservation through the construction of 30 water tanks for irrigation and the implementation of soil bunds and stone bunds to mitigate erosion. Alongside agricultural activities, the project focuses on skill development through trainings in value addition, tailoring, and crop management, while also addressing social issues like child dropout through health and hygiene awareness programs.
